1.0 Introduction While prisons in Africa are often considered the worst in the world many other prisons systems are worse off in terms of violence, overcrowding and a host of other problems. This is not to argue that African prisons are human rights friendly. Many are in a deficient condition and their practices are at odds with human rights standards. However, prisons in many parts of the global are in crisis. Never before have there so many problems within penal systems and such large numbers of people in institutions of incarceration. 1.2 Background of the problem During the nineteenth century, the prison was located in the on the sea front in Zanzibar Town. The aim of rehabilitation, however, is illusive, since persons are incarcerated for adherence to forbidden tribal customs, for default of agricultural production norms, and for noncompliance with mandatory resettlement in villagization projects. As more and more offenders are sent to prisons for openly opposing government policies, the institutions are failing their economic self-sustenance goals and becoming an increasing burden to the State. The contradictory conditions in Tanzanian prisons reflect the conflict between the government s aims to create a socialist society and ideological consensus out of a reality where capitalist characteristics control the economy and primitive customs guide the populace. NASHVILLE — They were born into it. But, what was once a 20 cow operation has grown into 150 cows and 700 acres. Spring Walk Farm, the name of which comes from the land and the spring by which they would have to walk to get to the barn, was established just north of Nashville in the late 1800s by William Wachtel. It s now run by the father-son team of Bill and Kurt, who inherited it from William s son and Bill s father, Floyd. Floyd was born in 1918 to William and Lena, who lived down the road from today s main farmhouse. It s the same home into which Bill and his two sisters and Kurt and his two sisters were born. Bill and wife, Beverly, to whom he was married in 1963, moved into the main farmhouse when their children were young. Originally, William Wachtel milked all his Guernsey cows by hand. It was Floyd who introduced portable milkers, which were carted from stall to stall, with milk captured in buckets transported by hand to cans stored in a cooler in the milk house. By this time, the number of cows milked on the farm had doubled. Scorpion Essay Scorpions are of the class Arachnid. They are considered to be relatives of the spiders, mites, and ticks. There are about 1,300 species of scorpions in the world. Scorpions live in the deserts, but also they can occur in many other habitats, such as grasslands, savannas, forests, and caves. Also scorpions have been found in the Himalayas of Asia and Andes Mountains of South America. They live there under the rocks that are covered with snow at elevation over 12,000 feet. There are about 90 species in the U.S. They have a flat, narrow body. Scorpions have mouth (chelicerae), a pair of pedipalps, and four pairs of legs. The pedipalps are used for capture and defense. Their body is divided into two main regions. They are called a cephalothorax and an abdomen. The scorpions’ bodes are covered with sensory hair. Also scorpions have a pair of median eyes and two to five pairs of lateral eyes. The abdomen consists of twelve distinct segments, and the last five refer to tail. At the end of the abdomen there is a telson, and it contains the venom gland. Long tailed scorpions can reach a length of eight inches. Such scorpions live in the South Africa.
